HERE IT IS! What you all have been waiting for….the unveiling of the colors on the church! Drum roll please. Thanks to the Yarmouth, Nova Scotia team the church looks great. It has been fun trying to make people guess what colors Karen may have chosen. Hope you all approve of the results.

The compound has been a hive of activity for the past couple of days because of the party to celebrate with Karen the fact that she has been working in Haiti for the past 20 years. The preparations did take us all about a day and a half to get the place spic and span. We scrubbed everything in sight just about and then all was ready.

The day started off with a special presentation to Karen by Bob the Builder, Bob Comeau. He and his wife, Linda, had done a plaque to honor Karen and her work. Then Keith presented Karen with a book he had created of photos and emails that Karen’s friends and family had sent. There were not many dry eyes in the room.

In Haiti a party has not been deemed a success unless you have eaten a meal and the meal has to have rice. So Germaine and Roslene started on Wednesday cooking and cutting and chopping and the smell in the air as we passed by made your mouth water. They cooked on charcoal outside because the big pots will not fit on a stove. They prepared for 120 guests so you can imagine how long that would take if you have to start all your dishes from scratch. There was fried chicken, beet salad, coleslaw that could cure any little bug you might have! And of course rice and beans!

It was delicious but more about that tomorrow!

Though we were unable to be there in person we were certainly thinking of you as you were "Feted" as was fitting your long commitment to Haiti and the children. God bless you Karen, you are in our thoughts and prayers continuously. Love Jim and Irene
Sorry we missed your Fete, Karen. Would loved to have been present. Thanks to Joan and Keith, the Yarmouth Team , the Staff and Children for all the work they did to make it a success.
